Young Industry Person’s Award (YIPA)
Applications have now closed.
For anyone living in Australia or New Zealand, attending the SMPTE Conference in Sydney is a lot less expensive than attending overseas exhibitions. However, we realize that it is still a considerable investment to attend SMPTE, especially for the younger members of the industry who do not live in the greater Sydney area.
To help make attendance at SMPTE 2011 financially achievable, the SMPTE Australia Section is once again providing a number of “Young Industry Persons Award” positions. The YIPA offers young people who work in an operational or technical area of the Film, Television, Radio, Broadcast and associated Media industries the opportunity for free admission to the Conference (worth more than AU$300.00).
In addition, SMPTE will provide, to qualifying applicants, assistance toward travel and accommodation costs while attending the conference.
To qualify for this award you must:
• Be less than 30 years of age on the opening day of the conference.
• Be an Australia or New Zealand permanent resident.
• Be involved in an operational or technical capacity within the Film, Television, Radio, Broadcast and associated industries.
• Have a strong desire to improve your knowledge of the technical aspects of your chosen career.
The total (maximum) amount payable for both travel and accommodation will be AU$500.00 for travel distances from 100km up to 999km and AU$1,000.00 for distances over 1,000km. This is measured from the official point in Macquarie Place, Sydney.
To apply for the YIPA, write or email with approximately 400 words and tell us why SMPTE should select you to receive financial assistant to attend the SMPTE Conference. Entries must be received by Friday, 15 April 2011. Successful applicants will be advised by Friday, 21 April 2011. The decision of the SMPTE Judging Committee is final.
