Patricia Powell-Hughes
Affectionately known as PPH, she decided from an early age she’d be really successful, she just didn’t know what as? She tried everything from working at McDonalds to studying acting. For a week she was a secretary, a graphic artist, a shop assistant, a cleaner…a chicken gram…but nothing stuck. She eventually stumbled into the world of travel. Success came naturally here and she worked her way up through the travel game, and eventually ended up teaching and running a travel business college, moving into career advice.
After having her first child she saw the opportunity to join Australia’s leading travel and logistics company Show Group. She rose through the ranks extremely quickly and ended up as National Commercial Manager for Showtravel / Showfilm, negotiating logistical nightmares on massive tours & productions, which lead her to establishing Showfilm’s international business. Here she oversaw the top projects including local and offshore feature films, plus massive tours such as Madonna and the Rolling Stones to industry events such as SPAA, the Movie Convention, the AFI’s and the ARIA’s.
After eight years she needed change. With international partner NATPE she created the first ever Australian film and TV careers expos held at Fox Studios. This exciting and inspiring tenure cemented her position as the industry expert in entertainment careers & employment. The concept of Entertainment Personnel was developed shortly after and has been a force ever since.
Leanne Bushby
Leanne speaks all manner of industry lingo, has a multitude of contacts and an abundance of knowledge. She spent many years working in television and has worked for companies such as the ABC, The Grundy Organisation (now Fremantle Media), several independent production companies, as well as working on co-productions with the BBC & Southern Star.
After deciding she needed a break from production, she re-trained and started working for the publishers of Encore Magazine. There she handled the sales and marketing for their film & broadcast trade titles and travelled worldwide to industry events, racking up frequent flyer points, countless contacts and an even broader knowledge of the film & TV industry.
In 2000 she returned home from living abroad to find the perfect role managing the sales and marketing for Entertainment Personnel, before retraining as a consultant which she has been doing ever since.
Leanne is a hard one to unnerve and her industry-wide reputation for calmness in an otherwise frenzied environment makes her the right person for the demanding world of recruiting in this fast-paced business. She has handled the recruitment for many high-profile entertainment companies and successfully placed hundred of people into their dream role, both here and abroad.
Her eye for detail, her love of photography, her talent for comical photo retouching and her ability to always be “going to” learn Italian, French, piano, painting, more computer programs etc etc etc…are assets that we love.
